Kerry travelled to Cork county more in hope than expectation. Missing several key batsmen it was an understrength tream . Batting first Kerry struggled throughout only Owais Gohar (28) and James Allman (12) reaching double figures.
The Cork bowling was tight, very few bad balls on offer and Kerry were all out for 87. Brian Scott and Kevin Bray taking 4 wickets each.
In reply Kerrys opening bowlers of Gohar(1 for 29) and Eddie Garczynski (1 for 10) proved just as miserly, their opening 8 overs cost 17 runs.
Pleasingly Kerrys fielding looked sharp and enthusiastic.
Alam Morshed ( 2for 26) came on and took two quick wickets and Kerry looked to be well in the match with Cork on 36 for 4.
Bray( 27 not out) showed stubborn resistance but it was the introduction of Uswal Mohammed for County that swung the game . His big hitting had several lucky moments, the closest when Allman nearly pulled off a great catch on the boundary. He continued to ride his luck and top scored with 35 not out to give County the win.
